DREVO Living Mountains
Integrated Mountain Water & Ecosystem Restoration Initiative
Integrated Mountain, Water, and Ecosystem Restoration Program
The project brings together ideasAtlantic & Mediterranean Coastal Water and Soil Resilience Initiative (AMCWSRI), the philosophy of the bookRestoration of the Earthand new DREVO technologies into a single international program for the restoration of mountain ecosystems.
Motto
Restore the Mountains — Restore the Water — Restore Life
Restore the mountains - restore the water - restore life.
Mission
To create the world's largest long-term mountain restoration system, which will enable:
restore the natural water cycle;
restore forests;
increase the number of springs;
reduce erosion;
stop desertification;
preserve biodiversity;
create sustainable agriculture;
increase fresh water supplies.
Main directions of the project
1. DREVO Mountain Sponge
Sponge Mountains
The main idea of the project.
The mountains must learn to hold water again.
For this purpose the following are used:
reforestation;
deep mulching;
natural terraces;
water-retaining soils;
biochar;
stone dams;
infiltration ditches;
cascades of small reservoirs;
restoration of swamps.
Result:
The rain stops flowing quickly into the sea and gradually disappears into the ground.
2. Mountain Springs Recovery
Revival of springs
Creation of a system for searching and restoring lost sources.
Used:
hydrogeology;
geophysics;
satellite data;
historical maps;
AI analysis.
After detection, the following is carried out:
soil restoration;
forest plantations;
reconstruction of riverbeds;
watershed protection.
3. Mountain Terraces 2050
New generation of terraces.
Combine:
ancient methods;
modern calculations;
geotextile;
stone structures;
natural reinforcement by plant roots.
The terraces work simultaneously as
erosion protection;
water storage tank;
agricultural site;
forest nursery.
4. Mountain Forest Corridors
Creation of continuous green corridors.

Foothills

Mountains

Highlands

River sources
The corridors provide:
animal migration;
plant distribution;
moisture retention;
climate cooling.
5. Mountain Digital Twin
A digital twin of every mountainous area.
Includes:
relief;
geological;
soils;
forest;
plants;
animals;
water flows;
springs;
climate;
history of changes.
AI models the development of a territory for decades to come.
6. Mountain Biodiversity Atlas
The most complete digital atlas of mountain life.
Contains:
trees;
shrubs;
herbs;
mosses;
lichens;
mushrooms;
bacteria;
insects;
birds;
animals.
For each type:
distribution map;
ecological role;
interaction;
effect on water retention.
7. Living Mountain Observatory
Continuous monitoring system.
Used:
ground stations
drones
satellites
soil sensors
tree sensors
humidity sensors
spectral cameras
thermal imagers
geophones
weather stations
AI analyzes changes in near real time.
AMCWSRI
The mountainous part becomes the upper level of the entire system.

In this way, a unified system for managing the water cycle is created from mountain catchments to the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts.
Connection to the book "Restoring the Earth"
The project becomes a practical implementation of the book’s philosophy.
Basic principles:
The Earth is viewed as a single living organism.
Water is the basis for the sustainability of ecosystems.
Forests are natural moisture accumulators.
Soil is a strategic resource.
Man is the keeper and restorer of natural processes.
Decisions are made with a planning horizon of 150–300 years.
DREVO Technologies
The project integrates DREVO developments:
TREE AeroSense— spectral analysis of vegetation, soils and water bodies.
TREVO AeroSense Drone— autonomous monitoring of hard-to-reach mountainous areas.
DREVO Aero AI— analysis of satellite and sensor data.
WOOD Plant ID— digital passport of plants.
TREE GeoReport— monitoring the state of landscapes.
DREVO Digital Twin— modeling the future development of ecosystems.
DREVO AI Cloud— a unified cloud platform for storing and analyzing data.
Long-term goals (2027–2100)
2027–2035:pilot areas, restoration of watersheds and springs.
2035–2050:scaling up at the national level, creation of green corridors.
2050–2075:integration with AMCWSRI coastal programs, sustainable agriculture and water resources management.
2075–2100:the formation of self-sustaining mountain ecosystems that provide a stable water supply, high biodiversity and resilience to climate change.
